What is SNAP 2026 and who conducts it?
Quick answer: SNAP 2026 is a 60-minute computer-based test for M.B.A. admission at Symbiosis institutes for the 2027-28 academic year. It is conducted by Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Pune. You can sit up to three tests in December 2026. Your best score is used to shortlist you for each institute's GE-PI round.
The SNAP 2026 overview page says that anyone who wants to join an M.B.A. at an SIU institute must take SNAP. If you are shortlisted, you then take part in GE-PI for that programme.
A SNAP score does not guarantee a seat. The official FAQ says final admission also depends on programme eligibility, GE-PI performance, category rules and each institute's merit list.
SNAP 2026 is held in 79 test cities across India, as listed in the SNAP 2026 Bulletin.

Who is eligible for SNAP 2026?
You need a bachelor's degree in any subject from a recognised university, with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST candidates). This is from the SNAP 2026 eligibility page.
SNAP 2026 eligibility and fees at a glance, from snaptest.org.
Some programmes add extra rules:
- SCMHRD Business Analytics needs at least two years of full-time work experience after graduation.
- SCMHRD Infrastructure Development and Management needs an engineering, architecture or planning degree, or another degree plus 12 months of work in an infrastructure-related sector.
- Dual degrees (SSBF and SIOM) have extra partner university rules.
Can final-year students apply? The 2026 bulletin says this clearly only for the SIOM dual degree. There, final-year students can apply, but admission depends on getting 50% (45% for SC/ST). For all programmes, SIU says admission is provisional until you meet the eligibility rules. If you are in your final year, check with your chosen institute before you pay.
Can NRI and foreign students take SNAP 2026?
Indian nationals can take SNAP. International students usually apply by a different route. The SIU international students page explains it:
- Foreign Nationals, OCI and PIO card holders apply through the Symbiosis Centre for International Education (SCIE). They do not take SNAP. They take an English Proficiency Test instead.
- NRIs who apply in the International category do not need the entrance exam. They also apply through SCIE.
- SIU sets aside up to 25% extra seats (over and above the normal intake) for international students.
What is the SNAP 2026 exam pattern?
SNAP 2026 is an objective, computer-based test. Every question has four choices. You can attempt sections in any order. This table is from the official test structure page.
SNAP 2026 sections, questions and marks.
| Section | Questions | Marks |
|---|---|---|
| General English | 10 | 10 |
| Analytical & Logical Reasoning | 20 | 20 |
| Quantitative, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency | 20 | 20 |
| Ethics, Morality and Values | 10 | 10 |
| Total | 60 | 60 |
Key rules:
- Time: 60 minutes. Candidates with disabilities get 20 extra minutes per hour.
- Marking: +1 for each correct answer.
- Negative marking: each wrong answer loses 25% of a mark, so -0.25.
- Attempts: up to three tests. The higher score counts, and SIU says there is no normalisation.
- No calculators or smart devices in the test centre.
Notice that half the paper (40 of 60 marks) is reasoning and quant. That is where method matters most.
How much is the SNAP 2026 fee?
Two fees are mandatory and non-refundable. These are from the SNAP 2026 home page and bulletin.
| Fee (SNAP 2026) | Amount |
|---|---|
| SNAP test registration | INR 2,550 per test |
| Programme registration | INR 1,000 per programme |
| Government taxes | Extra, as applicable |
So one test and three programmes costs INR 2,550 + (3 ร 1,000) = INR 5,550, plus taxes. Two tests and three programmes costs INR 8,100, plus taxes.
Paying only the test fee is not enough. You must also pick and pay for each programme you want.
How is SNAP 2026 scored and how is the percentile used?
Your raw score is out of 60. If you take more than one test, SIU uses your highest score to work out your overall SNAP percentile.
Each institute sets its own cut-off for each programme, based on this percentile. You may be shortlisted for several programmes. Then you attend GE-PI for each one.
The final merit list, as given in the SNAP 2026 Bulletin, is out of 100:
| Part | Weight |
|---|---|
| SNAP score (out of 60, scaled to 50) | 50 |
| Group Exercise (GE) | 10 |
| Personal Interaction (PI) | 40 |
| Total | 100 |
What happens after the SNAP 2026 result?
After the result on 12 January 2027, each institute shortlists students for GE-PI. In 2026, SIU calls this round GE-PI. Older guides often say "GE-PIWAT", but the 2026 bulletin lists only Group Exercise and Personal Interaction.
How selection works after SNAP 2026.
- Take one, two or three SNAP 2026 tests.
- Your best score becomes your overall SNAP percentile.
- Each institute shortlists for each programme using its own cut-off.
- Attend GE-PI for every programme that shortlists you. Missing any part makes you ineligible.
- The institute makes a merit list out of 100 (SNAP 50, GE 10, PI 40).
- Pay fees by the due date to confirm your seat.
Keep your authenticated admit card and score card safe. You need them for GE-PI.
How do you apply for SNAP 2026, step by step?
The official registration steps are short:

- Fill in your details carefully. No changes are allowed after registration.
- Verify the OTP sent to your phone or email. You will get a SNAP ID and password.

Worked example: a typical SNAP quant question
Here is a short percentage question in the style of SNAP quant. We solve it with a method you can reuse.
Question: A shop marks a bag 25% above its cost price. It then gives a 10% discount. What is the profit percentage?
- Let the cost price be 100. Using 100 makes percentages easy.
- Marked price = 100 ร 1.25 = 125.
- Selling price after a 10% discount = 125 ร 0.90 = 112.5.
- Profit = 112.5 - 100 = 12.5.
- Profit percentage = 12.5 รท 100 ร 100 = 12.5%.
Shortcut: multiply the factors. 1.25 ร 0.90 = 1.125, which means a 12.5% gain. The common wrong answer is 15% (25 - 10). Percentages do not just subtract.
Is it worth guessing with negative marking?
With four choices and -0.25 for a wrong answer, the expected marks from a guess are:
- Pure guess (1 in 4 chance): 0.25 ร 1 - 0.75 ร 0.25 = +0.0625
- After ruling out one choice (1 in 3): about +0.17
- After ruling out two choices (1 in 2): +0.375
So an educated guess after ruling out choices helps on average. A blind guess adds very little and burns time.
Score check: if you attempt 45 questions and get 38 right and 7 wrong, your score is 38 - (7 ร 0.25) = 36.25 out of 60. Scaled to 50 for the merit list, that is about 30.2.
What is a good SNAP 2026 prep plan for the weeks left?
From 26 October 2026, Test 1 is 48 days away, and Test 3 is 61 days away. That is about seven to nine weeks. Here is a simple plan.
| Week (2026) | Focus |
|---|---|
| 26 Oct - 1 Nov | Register early. Take one full mock. List your weak topics. |
| 2 - 15 Nov | Quant basics: percentages, ratios, averages, time-speed-distance. Daily reasoning sets. |
| 16 - 25 Nov | Data interpretation and data sufficiency. Finish registration by 25 Nov. |
| 26 Nov - 6 Dec | Two timed mocks a week. Review every wrong answer. |
| 7 - 13 Dec | Light revision. Download admit card. Sit Test 1. |
| 14 - 26 Dec | Study your Test 1 mistakes. Sit Tests 2 and 3 if you booked them. |
Daily habits:
- 20 minutes of English reading and grammar practice.
- 10 minutes of ethics and values questions to learn the style.
- One timed reasoning set and one quant set.
- A short error log: what went wrong, and the right method.
How much help is enough? Our guide on how many hours of maths tutoring per week explains how to judge it.
What are common SNAP 2026 mistakes?
- Paying only the test fee. You must also pay for each programme, or you will not be considered.
- Missing 25 November 2026. Registration and payment close on that date.
- Booking tests late. Popular cities and dates fill up, and you cannot change them later.
- Blind guessing. Each wrong answer costs 0.25. Rule out choices first.
- Subtracting percentages. As the worked example shows, 25% up and 10% off is 12.5%, not 15%.
- Ignoring the ethics section. It is 10 marks, the same as English.
- Skipping GE-PI prep. PI alone is worth 40 out of 100 in the final merit list.
- Losing the admit card. You need the authenticated admit card for GE-PI.
How does SNAP 2026 compare with CAT and XAT?
SNAP is shorter and covers only Symbiosis programmes. CAT is run by the IIMs, and XAT by XLRI. Both are longer tests used by many more colleges.
| Feature | SNAP 2026 | CAT | XAT |
|---|---|---|---|
| Run by | Symbiosis International (Deemed University) | IIMs | XLRI |
| Length | 60 minutes | Longer | Longer |
| Attempts | Up to 3, best score | One test a year | One test a year |
| Used by | Symbiosis M.B.A. programmes | IIMs and many B-schools | XLRI and many B-schools |
Many students take two or three of these exams, since the quant and reasoning skills overlap. Read our CAT 2026 exam guide and XAT 2027 guide for their official dates and patterns. If you are also thinking about law, see our CLAT 2027 guide.
How 1-on-1 tutoring helps with SNAP 2026
At Asymptode, one dedicated mentor works with you in private live online classes. We are honest about where we help most: quantitative aptitude, data interpretation, data sufficiency and logical reasoning. That is 40 of the 60 SNAP marks.
Here is how it works:
- Assess: your mentor gives you a short diagnostic and finds your weak quant and reasoning topics.
- Plan: a week-by-week plan built around your SNAP 2026 test dates.
- Teach method first: your mentor watches each step of your working, so mistakes like subtracting percentages get fixed at the root.
- Personalised homework with feedback: targeted sets, marked by your mentor.
- Flexible scheduling: classes fit around college, work and time zones.
- Every class recorded, so you can rewatch before a test.
- Short weekly updates for parents, if you would like them.
For General English and the ethics section, practice is mostly your own work. Your mentor helps you plan that time and track it.
